What is acrylcolor?

During the colouring stage of the co-extrusion process, the white PVC substructure and the coloured acrylic glass are permanently bonded with one another in one step. Fusing both of these materials produces a semi-matt, coloured outer profile surface that withstands the effects of the weather with ease.

Proven for decades

GEALAN has been co-extruding its coloured acrylcolor profiles for over 30 years. It is setting standards by using this process, because of how different it is from other common colouring processes. The result is unsurpassed colour characteristics and many years of colour fastness. Windows featuring acrylcolor profiles also satisfy the most stringent technical and functional requirements.

The principle of co-extrusion

During co-extrusion, the white PVC substructure and the coloured acrylic glass (PMMA) are permanently fused with one another. Acrylic glass is a high-quality product that has proven its qualities in industrial sectors such as the automotive industry (tail lights) and interior design. The vinyl profile acts as a carrier material, while the thin layer of acrylic glass is responsible for the profiles' colouring.

      1 The white PVC melt is fed via the main extruder.
      2 The coloured acrylic melt mass is added via a co-extruder.
      3 The two liquid components are permanently bonded with one another in the co-extrusion tool.
      4 To achieve a closed surface and a brilliant colour, the profile surface is polished with a grinding machine.

A one-of-a-kind surface texture

Brushing the acrylic layer not only produces a standardised grain, but also a fine, semi-matt gloss on the surface. This high-quality finish is unique on the coloured window market.

TRUE COLORS

Acrylic is particulary resistent material. Used for decades in the manufacture of cars, after years and years of exposure to atmospheric conditions, paint remains the same. Even frequent replacment of window sash in the same window frame, even after many year's it's almost impossible to tell the difference in color.

EASY MAINTENANCE

Profile windows with acrylic paints don't need much maintenance and when they do, it+s very simple. No stripping, grinding and re-applying the paint and therefore none of these costs. Those profiles reject dirt and dust and are cleaned very easly with ordinary cleaning products.

RESISTANT TO SCRATCHES

Window that are made out of acrylic paint profile have smooth, silky surface without pores. Connecting PVC and acryl under the influance of heigh temperatures gives special resistance. They are not only resistant to scratches, but also insensitive to clusters of dirt and dust.

HIGH REFLECTION

Sunlight is largely reflecetd by white base layer, located beneath a layer of acrylic paint that leaks infrared rays. In this way heating of the profile is significantly reduced. Temperature differences between very dark and white windows are suprisingly small.

100% RECYCLABLE

Windows with acrylic paints are fully recyclable. Profile residues are returned in production as raw materials. Old windows are granulated and prepared for further use. The result is a very valuable material that can be reused in new products. In that way we make constant circular flow of used materials.

Coloured windows and doors have a special role to play when it comes to façade design. They enhance the visual appeal of buildings, and are one of the first things people notice. As part of the façade, windows, front doors and lift-slide doors are exposed to sunlight, weather and environmental influences and mechanical influences. When this happens, it quickly becomes apparent that not all coloured profiles are the same.

For everyone who appreciates a natural appearance without sacrificing the benefits of modern window technology, there are vinyl windows with a wood grain look achieved using decor foils. Windows with decor foils offer all the positive properties of modern vinyl windows combined with the decorative effect of wood.

1. PVC windows are the Number One in energy efficiency

The frame of a window plays a decisive role in promoting energy and cost-efficient thermal insulation. Window profiles made of PVC score top marks when compared with aluminium or wooden windows. They have better insulation values and are able to reduce energy and heating costs. There is a particularly high energy saving potential when using PVC window frames in the passive house standard. Today, passive house windows can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively using state-of-the-art PVC profiles and the now quite common triple glazing.

2. PVC windows have a very good cost-benefit ratio 

PVC windows offer clear-cut cost advantages, both in procurement and throughout the entire life cycle. Timber frames are approximately 20-30 % more expensive than PVC profiles, and aluminium windows cost 30 % more again representing the most expensive alternative. Based on the high energy-saving potential and minimal maintenance throughout the entire service life of more than 50 years, costs are also saved in the long-term.

3. PVC windows are easy to care for

High quality PVC windows are extremely easy to care for and require minimal maintenance. Wooden windows, on the other hand, have to be glazed just about every two years and painted every 5 years. State-of-the-art PVC granule is extremely resistant to weather conditions and light-fast. To clean the window frames all you need is dishwashing liquid due to the easy-care properties of the smooth profile surfaces.

4. PVC windows are remarkably durable

As opposed to windows made of wood PVC windows have a particularly long service life. High
quality windows stand out with their distortion resistance and high level of functionality for years and years. Based on their long service live of at least 50 years PVC windows are an excellent investment, also with regard to maintaining a property’s value.

Winkhaus activ Pilot fitting combines some innovative and practical solutions. Activ Pilot fitting is modular system of transparent structure with less number of elements in comparison to the previous AutoPilot fitting.

The largest area of each window is glass, and therefore it is important to select an appropriate combination of insulated glass that meets the needs of the space.

Besides light transmission, an important feature of insulated (IZO) glass is thermal insulation, which can be achieved by using low-emissive (Low-E) glass and inert gases in between.

Glazing windows with low-emissivity glass should become the standard, because they can save 60-70% of heat that is lost through the glass.

Kajfa standard

Standard glazing on all of our windows is IZO 24 (4+16+4 – that means the double glazing unit consists of a 4 mm pane, a 16 mm spacer and a 4mm pane.) Low-e with heat transfer coefficient Ug = 1.1 W / m2K. The most important function of low-E glass is to reduce the loss of heat in cold months.

Low-E glass on the inside have a thin coating of metal oxide, so that the thermal waves (wavelength of infrared rays) gets rejected from the glass and returned in the direction of the heat source. In this way we keep the heat in the room. A transparent coating on the inside of Low-E glass 4 + 16 + 4 in combination with argon gives you the value of thermal heat transfer Ug = 1.1 W / m²K. Ug factor in normal insulating glass is 2.8 W / m²K which means that on 1 m² of glass we lose 2.8W of energy in 1 hour if the difference between the outdoor and indoor temperature is 1 ° C. Taking this into account it is obvious that the installation of a
of Low-E glass saves energy, both winter and summer.

In addition, at extra cost, there is the possibility of installing triple glazing Low-E 54 (4+16+4+16+4) whit heat transfer coefficient Ug = 0.5 W / m2K for maximum energy savings and the best sound insulation.

PVC is a high quality material which because of its excellent thermal insulation properties and relatively low prices is unparalleled in the development of energy-efficient and cost-effective construction joinery. The Kajfa S 9000 is characterized by very good insulating properties that enable big savings of thermal energy, as well as exceptional protection against noise.

Great install depth of 83 mm, 6 constant insulating chambers of air, and 3 levels of sealing allow coefficient of heat flow through the frame (Uf) of only 0.92 W / m2K.

In combination with the low-energy 3-layer glass Ug value of 0.5 W / m²K system achieves overall insulating value of the window Uw below 0.80 W / m²K which meets the standards for installation in passive houses and saves up to 3 times more energy than the windows that are commonly installed.

Optical S 9000 is a modern design with soft lines that makes the design of the window frame stylish and "slim" and allows more light to enter the room. Option to select a large number of colors and decorative wood contribute to the windows and doors can blend with any color of the facade from the outside, as well as the furniture inside.

1. Suitable for triple functional glazing with a maximum thickness of 52 mm (STV^® 54 mm).
2. Narrow visible width and 15° incline as a design feature.
3. Intelligent sealing concept with up to three end-to-end sealing levels.
4. Optimised for the use of STV^® for dry bonding the pane and sash upstand.
5. Very good heat and sound insulation thanks to the six-chamber design and large installation depth for the frame and sash.

Optimised heat insulation

Developing a system with the best heat insulation properties does not happen by accident, but rather as a result of focused development work. Right from the beginning, the goal of development was to achieve a heat insulation value of Uf – 0.92 W/m²K for the standard combination with steel, making the system suitable for use in passive houses. With IKD and STV technology heat insulations value is even better Uf = 0,89 W/m²K. This was accomplished through the sum of the innovative system design details:

1. End-to-end 6 chambers in window frame, sash, and shaft for outstand ing thermal and sound insulation.
2. Precisely fitting steel shapes for an ideal relation between statics and thermal insulation.
3. Intelligent sealing concept with three end-to-end sealing levels. In this, the flexible central seal in the rabate of the frame provides an essential contribution to thermal insulation, since it reduces the heat flow in the rebate area.    
4. A high glass projection by a projection height of 26mm for enhached thermal insulation.

The little flap with IQ

A controlled exchange between outside and inside air is a prerequisite for a pleasant room climate and greater living comfort. That is why the automatic ventilation system GECCO (GEALAN CLIMA CONTROL) is now available as an option for our windows. The little flap with IQ reliably prevents annoying draughts and mould formation in window reveals. It turns your normal windows into ventilation windows, for your own personal optimum living climate.

The flap is open in normal position, allowing air to circulate freely. The flap automatically closes the ventilation duct as wind speeds increase to prevent unpleasant draughts. GECCO works fully automatically.

The GECCO ventilation system also meets all requirements from a technical point of view. Tests have proven that this type of air exchange does not result in any significant heat losses.

GECCO 3

It is fitted on the room side at the top edge of the window sash. As well as being used in new windows, the GECCO 3 can be retrofitted into existing windows.

The inflowing air enters the rebate via the GEALAN ventilation gasket (1) and flows through the GECCO 3 (2) into the room.

GECCO 4

GECCO 4 is designed to be added into head extenders or in tall head jambs. It offers additional benefits like a pollen and fine particulate air filter and an insect screen.

The fresh air flows through the GECCO 4 (1) and directly into the room (2). There is also a rain cover available for the GECCO 4.

Exterior window sills are made from extruded aluminium which ensures long-standing resistance to all weather conditions. Interior PVC sills are made out of PVC high quality compound and optimal ratio of PVC and UV stabilizers. They are made in white, marble imitation, and various wood grains.

New windows seals much better than the old wooden windows and  in order to prevent the formation of mildew in rooms we offer GECCO ventilation system.
